WHY WOULD IT BE KARKAT VANTAS.> high school homoerotic codependent gayboy (or a variation of those words)straight guy i stopped liking a while ago. i dont post abt him much anymore. he didnt do anything wrong though i just stopped having a crush on him. a tag for him as well

> "tf2"team fortress 2, a video game i like so much that my system is collectively named after it and my middle name was LEGALLY CHANGED to be "The Character" 's first name> "The Character"as of sept 7, 2025: Dell "Engineer Gaming" "blu-engineer" Conagher. he has been The Character for other periods in my life. the definition of The Character may change, but it will always return to him eventually

MANIFESTO

warning: this page is LONG. i also have no idea how it looks on mobile. if you wanna get a sense for how we communicate and express ideas, or if you just wanna hear us ramble, feel free to continue downward. if you wanna back out now, here's your chance.

What is this page for?

a site manifesto, sometimes shortened to just "manifesto" (invoking such brilliant imagery as "faux-left petit bourgeoisie startup that underpays its workers" and "the fucking Unabomber") is a web1 relic being brought back in the current web1 renaissance/revolution.we have one because we have a chronic need to overexplain even the most basic choices we make- a tendency instilled in us from being a chronic tumblrite since the tender age of 13. (see? it's already starting!)

"We?"

the body behind this site and the other various tendrils of our network hosts a system. that's what "BLU Team" means. we're a team of alters/headmates/brainpeople/whatever. "system" is shorthand for a system of personalities, usually associated with dissociative identity disorder, but can also arise from many other different causes."BLU Team" itself as a moniker is sourced from Team Fortress 2. TF2 is how we figured out we were plural in the first place, if our obscene amount of fictives from the game is any indication. at the moment of writing this, we don't remember the sequence of events leading to this particular moniker being chosen beyond "Oh, we need a collective name. We'd better get on that." when we remember, we'll add a blurb about it here.

Why does the site look like this?

again, we've been a tumblr user since 13. a lot of the styling on this page is a leftover from late 2010s/early 2020s annoying-guy-on-the-internet web design because we Were that annoying guy on the internet.more specifically, this carrd is (currently) themed after the lemon demon album view-monster, which is my favorite LD album to date. we even have it on vinyl. which is awesome.

view monster cover

Shouldn't you just make a Neocities/Strawpage/Whatever the hell?

as much as i appreciate the aesthetics and intention behind the web1 renaissance, i simply don't have the time or energy to learn an entirely new website system. if carrd ever goes down, and i have to move my stuff out of necessity? sure!but coding is a lot harder than people make it out to be, especially when you have brain problems you don't quite know the nature of yet. (in other news, we've begun looking into dyscalculia and seeing if there's anything there.) as appealing as the idea sounds, in reality it's just too much to learn when my brain is already leaking information daily after 100 other brainpeople have their requisite time piloting the meat-mech. carrd is easy and accessible in the meantime. it was designed to be easy and accessible, and it is an accessible website designer that is easy for me to use. so i don't feel much shame in using it.

In Defense of the DNI - Revised

"DNI" is used here to cover adjacent topics like a BYF.

sometime in 2023, we noticed people hating on the concept of a DNI because they can't protect the user from people with malicious intentions, they won't prevent interaction with people they disagree with, and that DNIs are easily misused, abused, or weaponized. these points stem from a misconception about the function of DNIs that seems to originate from some people with DNIs not knowing the most effective way to use them. this is our attempt to correct this.people who (a) are online enough to know what a DNI and its contents mean and (b) are unrepentant bigots/harboring malicious intentions tend to be easily baited into negative interactions and anon hate when encountering a DNI that they disagree with. this is an intended function of the DNI- when a bigot makes themselves visible, it's very easy to mow them down with a block-and-report, and move on. this, in effect, allows the user to protect themselves from a bigot by having them expose themselves before they can do actual damage to you. blocking on tumblr is incredibly effective (as demonstrated by the TERFs hell-bent on destroying transfem blogs). if you can bait someone into being a shithead, you can block them- never seeing them again and allowing you to report them. but it's important to note that you need to be unafraid to block people for this to work. otherwise you're just letting people be mean to you online. stand up for yourself!also, the idea that DNIs can't prevent interaction with people who disagree with you (setting aside the obviously-malicious blockbait) is just... false. let's say that cheese discourse has been the hottest topic online. you yourself are pro-cheese, or perhaps even a cheese yourself, and you're scrolling the internet and come across someone cool. after having a cursory glance at their blog, scrolling 10 posts down, you decide they're worth a follow, and all is well-- until one day they post something violently anti-cheese that makes you sick to your stomach. this person did not advertise their anti-cheese bigotry, and now you're suffering for it.now let's put you in that same situation again, only this time the anti-cheese person advertises themselves as such- whether that's on their pinned post, in their bio or title, on their carrd- whatever. because you are staunchly pro-cheese and this person is staunchly anti-cheese, you have no desire to interact with this person upon seeing this. you block them, and you avoid seeing hateful anti-cheese posts on your dash.what the "cheese" stands for is irrelevant to this concept. there are topics that are going to be discussed on the internet that will have varying importance and varying popularity over time. until these things cool down, you can advertise yourself as pro- or anti- cheese (or nuanced-cheese. whatever the hell stance you have on cheese), and people opposing you will either block you (preventing interaction- yay!) or say something stupid to your face (allowing you to block them- yay!).when it comes to "abusing DNIs" and putting outright stupid shit on them, the only thing i can say to this is that that person was probably annoying anyway and you wouldn't want to interact with them regardless. they're happy because you don't want to interact with them and you're happy because you don't need to see this annoying person. if you believe a person's DNI is being misused or abused, that is your sign to not interact with that person. it is truly that simple.it's like a home security sign in your yard. a robber who wants to get into your house specifically will not be deterred by the sign, and may even be encouraged by it- which is why you have the actual security measures (blocking people) in place; people who just want to go home will see your sign and not go up to bother you.well, these are pretty good reasons to have a DNI. why are people so against it? my theory is that people who are against DNIs fall into 3 camps:(1) people who don't want to put all of their opinions on a little carrd or in their bio because of privacy reasons- or think that other people doing it are exposing information that others can exploit. to me, the answer is very simple; if you don't like the idea of that, just don't do it. you are under zero obligation to make a DNI and tell people all of your opinions. but please, trust people to know how much they're sharing and why. it comes across as condescending to assume someone doesn't know that the information they're sharing is information that they've chosen to share.(2) people who were never going to be nice to you on the internet anyway. these people want free reign to be as toxic as they want. i am speaking from experience when i say this; any internet stranger who cares about what you do on your website and your blog to the extent of calling you stupid for not doing things in the exact way they believe to be correct is not a friend. they are probably manipulating you. do not fall for it.(3) people who used to use DNIs in like 2020 or whatever and are embarrassed about formerly having been a teenager on the internet. to some extent, this is understandable; being a teenager on the internet means being a trend-follower, so you probably put some shit on there that turned out to be stupid or irrelevant. but hating on DNIs is just the latest trend. please, if you see this; take this opportunity to think for yourself. don't let your dashboard be your thoughts. break out of that cycle.i'd like to note that a lot of this doesn't apply to putting your triggers on the internet. if you're a person who has triggers, please don't hand those out willy-nilly. malicious actors will use those against you with a lot more serious of an impact than if they just use the contents of your DNI against you. if stuff is on your DNI because it's on your trigger list, try to neutralize the way it's listed if you can't just remove it outright. making it blend in with the rest of the DNI and not stand out is your best solution.here's your reward for reading this far:
